Martial Arts Books and Self-Defense Books

The 12 Colors of Combat: The Ultimate Non-Martial Art

Explore Simmons’ first major analysis of combat motion. This book introduces the creation of the Dodecagon, a 12-sided polygon of combat excellence, supported by the movement equations behind it. Dale presents a functional approach to combat study and self-defense that looks beyond standard martial art labels.

Life of Combat

This autobiography tells the story of Dale’s early childhood and the near-death beating experience that shaped his need to understand self-defense. It also details the real street combats that helped form his combat philosophy. Dale shares intense moments from his life, including confrontations with Marines, street-level threats, and the personal pressure that pushed his research forward. The book also explains the development of Counter-Sambo, Marine Corps hand-to-hand combat instruction, and the effort behind his combat research.

Life of Combat 2nd Edition: The Program That Improved the Marine Corps

This expanded edition adds a fuller look at Dale’s path from childhood self-defense concerns to Wu-Chi and Counter-Sambo. It includes more personal conflict, including a roadside confrontation where four men surrounded his truck while his wife sat in the passenger seat. The book gives readers a closer look at the experiences, training ideas, and Marine Corps connection behind Dale’s combat system.

The CODEX of Wu-Chi

A detailed training manual for readers who want Dale’s close-combat concepts, drills, and research in reference form. Readers can study the Simmons-invented BPT training system: Body Positioning, Power Curve, and Technique Timing. The book also introduces the Intuitive Antenna and explains the meaning behind the slogan: “The right tool, at the right place, at the right time.”

Fiction, Satire, and Adventure

Garbage Dump Samurai

A berserk martial arts adventure that follows Capt. Harold Hobbleheiser through military chaos, monastery training, and comic street-level conflict before he ends up living in the San Francisco city dump. The masked Garbage Dump Samurai and his sidekick Squanto sling swords in old western California, righting wrongs with samurai style. “Who was that masked man? That was no masked man, son. That was The Garbage Dump Samurai.”

The 4 Sisters Stories: Writing About My Family Members from Inside an Insane Asylum

The first volume introduces Kate, Maggie, Nancy, Rocky, and Maria through wild missions, satire, family loyalty, and action. Masters of Savate, jujitsu, chin-na, aikido, judo, knife throwing, and pistol work, the sisters bring in the bad guys while running their unusual dating and marriage service in Harpers Grove, Maryland.

The 4 Sisters Stories Vol. 2

The second volume sends the sisters into stranger conflicts, including assassins, robots, dirty cops, and comic mayhem. When the President or the Joint Chiefs of Staff need help, the Four Sisters move in and “fix things,” leaving chaos, action, and a massive body count in their wake.

The Four Sisters Stories Vol. 3

This volume continues the series with alien threats, time travel, pirates, Nikola Tesla, mole men, and other wild adventures. The sisters also run a dating and marriage service that includes Nancy’s dating work, Kate’s counseling, Maggie’s wedding planning, Reverend Rocky’s matrimony ceremony, and Maria’s reception dinner.

The 4 Sisters Stories: Volume 4

The fourth volume expands the series with naval trouble, nuclear weapons, strange creatures, Santa Claus, and another fight to stop global disaster. The sisters also sell Girl Scout cookies in the parking lot at Fred’s Grocery Store, because even world-saving women have community work to do.

The Four Sisters Movie Book

A script-and-story version of the Four Sisters concept, created as a large-scale movie for the reader’s imagination.

The Kate McKellum Story

A companion title that explains the fictional origin behind The 4 Sisters Stories and Katherine Elizabeth McKellum’s role in writing the series. The book follows Kate’s difficult early life, her time in institutional care, and the way Simmons helped transcribe her written stories. After stabilizing, Kate earns a Doctorate Degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland and later opens a counseling practice in Harpers Grove, Maryland. Her experience gives her deep empathy for her patients and later inspires the Four Sisters Dating and Marriage Service described in Volume 1.

Upcoming Books by Dale Simmons

Dale’s upcoming releases continue his work across combat study, military experience, self-defense books, and fiction.

The Simmons USMC Counter-Sambo Course

This possible future book presents the Simmons USMC Counter-Sambo Course, based on the same course used to train 93 Simmons-trained USMC instructors at Camp San Onofre in Camp Pendleton. The book will include 23 lectures and physical technique lessons designed for serious study.

The course connects to the student stories described in *Life of Combat 2nd Edition* and shows how Simmons’ training could serve martial artists, military personnel, and law enforcement readers.
